FloralWIKI and FloralImages
This project provides a more open interface to FloralImages.
It has always been my wish to back up the content of [http:/www.floralimages.co.uk FloralImages] with more information about the botany behind the pictures. Not to compete with the standard works but on an "interesting but not too deep" level. That is where this WIKI comes in.
I am working on a set of pages for each family. I want to know more about the reasoning behind the family groupings and how they fit into the evolutionary history of plants and also hope to provide some important visual clues as to the family of a particular plant. My knowledge is limited though - I only got serious about botany a few years ago after a life of moderate interest and giving up biological sciences (for the physical ones) at 16. (Our UK education system specialises incredibly early...)
So feel free to edit my family pages when they appear !
And if you want to create a page on a particular genus or species go ahead - but let me know so that I can make sure FloralImages links to it.
